Nicotine salts are the form of nicotine found in tobacco. Note that nicotine salts cartridges differ from the originals, which are constituted of free base nicotine elements.
Our line of vPro cartridges, currently available for both the ePen 3 and the ePod, consist of cartridges that contain nicotine salts. These cartridge packs have an “arrow” on the pack (i.e. see below) to distinguish them from the original nicotine cartridge packaging.
Nicotine content is typically stated on vaping products as a concentration (i.e. how many milligrams (mg) of nicotine per millilitre (ml) of liquid). An example of this can be seen in how 18mg/ml means there is 18mg of nicotine in every 1ml of eLiquid. This being said, an alternative way to state nicotine or nicotine salts concentration is in percentage. A 57mg/ml eLiquid could therefore also be correctly stated as containing 5% (w/w) nicotine.
Hence, the “w/w” means the percentage is based on the weight (w) of nicotine contained in the total eLiquid weight (w).Therefore, 5% (w/w) nicotine strength means that 5% of the total weight of the eLiquid is nicotine.
Either way of stating concentration is correct, however many leading pod systems containing nicotine salts are adopting the percentage approach.
We are currently adopting the mg/ml approach across our Vype vaping products portfolio but have decided to switch to percentage for our new Vype ePod to fall in line with consumer expectations for nicotine salts pod systems.
